My name is Victoria Zeal. I’m a news producer at WVEC-TV in Norfolk, Virginia. I’ve worked there since June 2012. I started out producing the morning show three days a week and the weekend evening shows. I quickly moved up to the 5 p.m. newscast.
I graduated from Eastern Illinois University in May 2012. There I earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a concentration in broadcast news and a minor in creative writing.
While in school I volunteered full time at WEIU-TV News Watch. News Watch is a student-produced, live, five day a week, half-hour newscast on the local PBS channel. During my four years at News Watch I was able to learn the ropes of television news including shooting and editing video, writing and anchoring stories, and most importantly producing award-winning shows.
Every day at WVEC I apply what I learned at News Watch, but I’m also constantly adding to my knowledge of what local news is and the best way to present it.
Feel free to look around my website. You’ll find examples of my work as a producer, reporter, videographer and even anchor.
